Look: Star Golfer Withdraws From WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play Event
Moments ago, the PGA Tour officially announced that Hideki Matsuyama has withdrawn from the 2023 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.
“Hideki Matsuyama concedes his match to Max Homa who will move on to the Round of 16 @DellMatchPlay,” the PGA Tour tweeted.
Matsuyama, a former Masters champion, is dealing with a neck injury. That’s why he’s pulling out of the event.
According to reports, Matsuyama tried to get his neck loose while warming up on the range this Friday.
This is an unfortunate development for Matsuyama, who has reached the weekend of the WGC-Dell Match Play just once in eight appearances.
Max Homa, meanwhile, will become the first player to advance to knockout rounds of this year’s WGC-Dell Match Play.
We’re hoping Matsuyama can make a speedy recovery from this neck injury.
