Abu Dhabi Motorists Will Pay Fines Worth AED50,000 For Rules Violation
The police in Abu Dhabi are cautioning drivers not to run red lights, as the violation carries severe penalties.
According to law No.5 of 2020, motorists who break the red lights will be subject to a fine of AED 1,000, receive 12 traffic violation points and have their vehicle impounded for a period of 30 days.
The driver must pay a fee of AED50,000 and have their driving privileges suspended for a period of six months in order to retrieve their vehicle.
The vehicle will remain impounded until the fine is fully paid within a period of three months. If the fees are not paid, the vehicle will be sold at a public auction.
This initiative came in line with Abu Dhabi Police’s extensive efforts to guarantee the protection and safety of Abu Dhabi roads.
